The book of the month for June 2010 is The Holographic Universe
by Michael Talbot.
Michael Talbot was born in Michigan in 1953 and died in 1993. The Holographic Universe was published in 1991. In the book Michael Talbot explores the possibilities that reality could be holographic in form.
Based on the work of physicist David Bohm and neurophysiologist Karl Pribram, the author attempts to explain in everyday terms the scientific basis for the theory. He also looks at the bigger picture relating to spirituality, consciousness, mind-body-spirit connection and the implications for our understanding of the universe and our place in it if this model is correct.

I’d seen this book before on Amazon and had almost bought it a couple of times . I’ve a tendency to drop items into the basket when browsing and then when placing an order just select a couple. So finally I ordered it and it arrived last week.
The book was published in 1991. I started reading it in 2010 a week or so after viewing a documentary on the history of UK mental hospitals which touched on the practice of performing lobotomies as a treatment for a variety of mental conditions. Coincidentally on page 4 of the Holographic Universe Talbot talks about Pribram (one of the main influences for the book) who while working as a young neurosurgeon in Florida refused to allow any lobotomies in the ward he was overseeing. This was controversial at the time as it was a very popular treatment in the 40′s and 50′s. Looks interesting.
